GenArraytion Selected for Department of Defense SBIR Phase II Award
GenArraytion Inc's proposal titled, "Development of Biomarkers for Clinical Assessment of Occult Infection and Forecasting Emerging Disease Outbreaks" was selected for continued Phase II Air Force funding effective in Marc h 2010. Collaborations have been established with the Ohio State University Medical Center and Washington Hospital Center in DC. The medical centers have provided over 50 clinical isolates of Staphylococcus aureus for genotypic analysis on a microarray. Isolates are both MRSA and MSSA. We are currently developing a Staphylococcus aureus multiplexed assay in conjunction of a multiplexed assay to differentiate MRSA from MSSA using the Luminex LX-200 and MagPix magnetic bead platforms. Future objectives are to distinguish the MRSA relative to antibiotic susceptibility profiles in a multiplexed molecular assay. In addition, we are developing multiplexed molecular assays to a wide variety of biothreat agents, both bacteria and viruses.
GenArraytion Selected for Department of Defense SBIR Phase I Award
GenArraytion Inc's proposal titled, "Development of Biomarkers for Clinical Assessment of Occult Infection and Forecasting Emerging Disease Outbreaks" was selected for Air Force funding in October 2008. The objective of this SBIR effort is to develop an approach for the rapid determination of biomarkers for a fieldable system for rapid and accurate bio-surveillance of occult or emerging diseases that are either naturally occurring, emerging or genetically engineered. The system will demonstrate the presence of an occult agent by directly detecting discriminating elements that identify the type, class and exact nature of the agent. The phylogenetic information provided will facilitate the study and understanding of how outbreaks of the agent are propagated in order to create predictive models that can be used to develop prevention strategies for military commanders and civilian officials to prepare for and protect against outbreaks caused by emerging or genetically engineered biological threats.
GenArraytion Receives Montgomery County Economic Development Investment
In August 2008, GenArraytion, Inc. received external financing through the Montgomery County, MD Technology Growth Program (TGP). The TGP provides financing for emerging technology-based companies with innovative products or services. This competitive award is a "no-risk" grant that converts to a loan if certain revenue or equity investment milestones are met.
